Modernising Medical Careers (MMC) is a programme of radical change that aims to drive up the quality of care for patients through reform and improvement in postgraduate medical education and training.

If you are thinking coming to UK for higher medical training, please go to http://www.mmc.nhs.uk, and read all relevant information. It is important you read this and you can write to them about any thing you would like to ask. It is very helpful for you to find out more before setting yourself up to come to UK and thin you will be disappointed.

a new training system has been introduced in UK ,called MMC.modernising medical career.

This means that the medical training grades will look substantially different. Following graduation, there will be a Foundation Programme of two years for all doctors, to replace the present pre-registration house officer year and the first year of senior house officer training. The outcome-based Foundation Programme will develop competencies to ensure good medical practice, and which will be relevant to any future career.
Foundation training will include an understanding of different settings in which medicine is practised; one of the key intentions is that every trainee will have the opportunity to experience general practice and community health care as well as hospital specialties.

This will be followed by structured and streamlined specialty training which will take the trainee to their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), allowing for flexibility to meet service and personal development needs. There will be reliable and valid assessment for all doctors throughout training. Robust workforce planning will ensure there will be the right number of doctors in training programmes to meet future service needs.
