TEXTBOOKS:

Global HIV/AIDS: Management & Prevention“Within Different Cultural Environments”

The textbook will be written by a number of leading authors across the world who will be invited by the Editors of the book: Dr Saleh El-Gadi, Consultant Physician in HIV/STIs, Homerton Hospital, London and Professor Brian Gazzard, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London.

This book will provide a comprehensive guide to cover the key global issues in the management of HIV/AIDS. The book is targeted at medical and public healthcare professionals providing care for patients in resource poor settings as well as those in resource rich settings having to care for immigrant populations. There is emphasis on religion and cultural sensitivities around the issue of HIV/AIDS. The book is envisaged to be a practical guide with sufficient theoretical background intended to provide understanding and solutions to a range of problems facing those involved in the management of patients, monitoring and prevention of the epidemic. It will be designed in a textbook format with figures, tables, charts and photographs where necessary. It will be user friendly, academic and authoritative in appearance.

The book will be around 1000 pages and is divided in 6 sections and 42 chapters, each of which has been carefully planned. The authors within each section represent some of the most eminent names not only in the field of HIV and AIDS but also leading representatives of various religions and cultures which are dealing with issues relating to the condition.

The book is currently being commissioned and is expected to be published in the autumn of 2008.
