We are pleased to announce that the LDS website has dedicated a
page for medical and non-medial personnel to express their
opinion and views about health related issues.e-mail
New We Are delighted to announce an annual prize to the best
publications and achievements by Libyan doctors. A winner will be
chosen every year and a sympolic prize from LDS members
will be given to the winner.
The 3rd Libyan doctors from abroad conference will be held 26-27/7/2010- Derna-Libya. the minister of health is the main supporter for this conference with help from Watassimo chartitable organisation and office for Libyan abroad
The 8th Paedaitric conference in libya will be held between 21-23/3/2010- Benghazi-Libya. No website yet for this and shortly will be addedd.
There will be visits to hospitals in Libya by team/s of Libyan doctors. we already had 6 visits and are very successful. At the momment only for senior colleagues and in future we start taking also juniors to talk about their experience. We usually spend two days, seeing patients, do workshops and training or perform proceduers by surgical colleagues. If you are interested, you can e-mail Dr N Barakat (nbara5863@hotmail.com). It is fully funded by the hospital we visit.

The Secretary of health of Libya, Mr Mohamed Al-hejazi, had a meeting
with Libyan doctors ,London -UK on 10th October 2009,
Intercontintal Hotel. At least 60 Libyan doctors attended this meeting.
It was very productive meeting with clear plan from him about the
next five years in developing the health services in Libya.
The full minutes will be published in due course.
The first Objective structured cliical examination (OSCE) workshop
held at Alarab Medical universities-Faculty of medicine-Benghazi,
with collaboration from Imperial colleg between 24-25th October 2009.
This course was lead by Dr Nagi Barakat and Dr Elizabeth Muir
